Ever wondered what wildlife is hiding right on our doorstep?
Join us for the Glebe BioBlitz Weekend and help uncover, record and celebrate the incredible plants, birds, insects and coastal wildlife of Lecale.
Whether you’re a budding naturalist, future David Attenborough, keen photographer, family explorer or simply curious about nature, there is something for everyone.
All wildlife observations recorded during the weekend will contribute to official monitoring records – every sighting counts.

Organised by Glebe House in partnership with Strangford & Lecale Area of Outstanding Beauty as part of the Green Community Hub for People, Plants and Pollinator Project, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

🐞 Family activities – minibeast hunts, nature art and children’s activities
🤝 Meet nature experts, conservation groups and local environmental organisations at information stands throughout the day

Explore Glebe and its surroundings while learning more about local wildlife and the fantastic work carried out by the Strangford & Lecale AONB Team and Mourne Gullion Strangford Geopark Team.
📍 DAY 2 – SUNDAY 14 JUNE | 1pm–3pm
Kilclief Beach – Terrestrial & Coastal Day
1-3pm – explore the wildlife at Glebe Butterflies, plants and birds
3-5pm – Head to Kilclief beach to explore the shore with Marine Biologists Gavin and Anna
Park at Kilclief Beach opposite Kilclief Castle or further along the road at Campbells Beach

Activities
🌿 Wildlife monitoring & discovery – birds, butterflies, bumblebees, plants and moths (at Glebe 1-3pm)
🪨 Rockpooling at low tide (at Kilclief beach 3pm–5pm) – discover marine life and explore the shore at the best time to uncover what lives beneath the rocks and pools
🎨 Children’s Recyclable Art Activities
🎶 Nature Singing Circle by the beach
🌊 Coastal exploration and discovering marine wildlife
🚗 Free parking available at both locations

👟 What to wear / bring
This is mostly an outdoor event taking place across grassland, uneven ground and the beach, so please come prepared for the weather and terrain.
We recommend:
🥾 Sturdy footwear / walking boots or wellies
🧥 Waterproof coat and layers (this is Northern Ireland after all!)
🌦️ Clothing suitable for changing weather conditions
🌞 Suncream and hats if the sunshine appears
🦀 Clothes suitable for beach and rockpool activities on Sunday
💧 Water bottle and any essentials for the day
*Please note there may be uneven ground at Glebe House and rocky / sandy areas at Kilclief Beach
